Hello xanga community!!! Sorry i have neglected you these past few months but I had a couple other items that ranked a bit higher on the priority list.... like sleep. So did ya miss me????
Its been a couple of months so you know i've got plenty of wine recommendations to offer....but first things first mark your calendars for Friday December 12th!!!!!!!! My #3 favorite DJ, Donald Glaude, is coming to town. Here is a link to his info. http://www.thedjlist.com/djbiodisplay.php3?djName=DONALD+GLAUDE He will be at Rich's for their weekly Spundae party and tix are only $12. Glaude always puts on a very energetic show with badasss dance beats and some SICK scratchin on the decks. All you austin and dallas peops should come down for this. (Kim- Christene said she'll cook for you "again" if you come down) (Drew/BVC - round up the autstin crew)
So work has been hell these past 2 months. My company sends me off to SF for 2 weeks of training and now they are trying to make me earn all those expensed meals..... damn it!!!! I guess it still worth it though... i finally had the chance to hit up NAPA while I was der. Which happens to be a perfect seque to my next section. The much anticipated (or dreaded for some) wine recommendations from CTV.
For the ladies, I have a very pleasant white wine from Bordeaux France that I just finished tonite actually. Its called Chateau Ducla 2000 Bordeaux White. The bottle is $18 and goes well with salads (my dinner tonite) This wine has a mild pear aroma and a very delicious lychee taste. It is very smooth and has a long finish for a white wine. It is not too sweet to the extent of a dessert wine which makes it very hard to stop at one glass.
Now for 2 red recs. I was at a wine tasting this past weekend and had an opportunity to try a rly good Shiraz. Its the Eppalock Ridge 2001 Shiraz (Australia) I only had a tasting of it and don't remember all the characteristics of it but all I know it was YUMMY. I picked up a bottle for myself and can't wait to try it again. This Shiraz is $30 a bottle.
This final red was recently featured in the Nov. issue of Wine Spectator as one of the best values for 2000 Cabernets. Its the Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon which retails for $28 but you can buy it at Specs for $18. This wine scored a 90 and reveals "jazzy oak, rich currant, and black cherry finishing with pretty coffee notes"
HAPPY DRINKING!!!
